I strictly followed the various threads as Nepzsmiler and many others. My last attempt resulted in the following screen on the DM: Sim2 & 4 192.168.1.77 ***serial setup or ***serial mode. in fine I managed as follows: direct connection of the DM with the PC using the RJ45 crossover cable and mini usb.
